Oh my. Why would you buy an Axiom? Isuzu 3.5l prone to sludge issues and deck erosion (IIRC) coupled to a terrible GM 4L30E surrounded by body work they only made for a few years that combined big footprint with little usable space. My parents had one, and after repeated ABS issues I finally persuaded them to sell it. Many parts for Isuzus were getting expensive and/or hard to find even in '09. Rodeo and Trooper parts are still reasonably available (although often expensive), but Axiom parts can be rough. We had to replace the ignition coils sometime around 130k, and I pooped myself when the dealer quoted $800. Even in the aftermarket they were $300-$600. Makes Saab DICs/IDMs look cheap by comparison!
There is a method to pulling the torque on demand system codes from the OBDII connector at home - I don't remember it anymore, but it should be out there, maybe in the Haynes manual? The TOD commonly reports failures if the speed sensors are bad or if the control module is damaged, but the actual mechanical bits are pretty reliable. Not sure what a "ton of mileage" means, but maybe you've found the one with a failed transfer case? I'd start with the codes - you'll need them to move forward. And, you pretty much have to do it at home seeing as there aren't Isuzu dealers anymore to pull the codes... you may be able to find an indy that has the tool though, it's unique to Isuzu but not the Axiom. Brace yourself, TOD systems parts are not cheap. The front speed sensors (for the TOD system) are $300 each in the aftermarket, and close to double that for the genuine article. You can drive the truck without TOD, but it will be strictly RWD.
Hopefully you got a good deal - Axioms can make Audis look cheap.
