If you're thinking sport ute you owe it to yourself to at least look at the Wrangler. The resale value alone more than makes up for any other short comings--making payments on one is the closest thing in the automotive universe to putting it in a savings account--NOTHING holds its resale value like a Wrangler. I wouldn't worry too much about performance, you tend to drive utes differently than you'd drive a car. European sport sedans are designed for high speed, economical driving, utes will suck fuel like you won't believe if you try to drive them like that. I find the size perfect--it's about the size of my '95 Pathfinder which is a good compromise. It's really fun to drive and the removable top is frosting of the cake. I'd have a very hard time going back to an ordinary car or ute. I get better mileage than I did with the H6 Outback I had before and it's been bullet proof to 16K. I could go on and on but resale value that allows you to drive one for next to nothing is hard to argue with. At least drive one and see how long the silly grin lasts.
