I'd like to see more Holdens brought here because of their performance and styling. My son just bought his first car: a 2008 Pontiac G8 GT and it's a keeper. Imagine a 9-5 Aero with more power and road holding!

After searching through many makes and models, I suggested Pontiac to him. The (Holden) GTO was not his favorite despite its awesome 400/400 hp/torque. Even the interior is quiet and cozy with the most comfortable seats I've ever felt. He was resigned to getting one because of their value-for-the-money... but only in the right color. Well instead, the next morning, we found a newly listed 2008 G8 GT in "Panther" black. These are rare. I told him he must pounce now!

This car is impressive. The modern, pushrod 6.0 V-8 just sings! I couldn't believe how smoothly its revs. 361/385 hp/torque with a slick, six-speed automatic. It has 51/49 weight distribution and rear wheel drive with IRS. Put it all together and you have a very responsive car. Also, its exterior styling is refreshing: a determined looking front end with classy European side lines. The interior is spacious and I only wish it had GTO seats and less Pontiac dashboard cheese.

Alas, our President decreed that Pontiac, SAAB, Hummer and Saturn were clunkers and he would give cash to make them go away so the G8 was here for only two years. But, this Holden will be resurrected as the Chevy SS next February when it debuts at NASCAR Daytona. If you can live with getting only 24 MPG on the highway (instead of 30 in a 9-5 Aero) then you should try these cars.
