Like Justin say, if you don't need AWD, don't buy it but yes, if you are eying the V8, you are stuck with AWD. Yes the early V8 had problems with balance shaft bearings.

The 5cyl FWD might be a little bit anemic but to putt around town soccer mom style it is good enough and it's a proven engine and transmission.

The T6 dual turbo 6's are just thirsty and also AWD and had some problems with the GM transmission.

The new straight 6 engine we don't know so much about yet and it is a brand new concept and way of thinking and that might be for better or worse.
Also the 6 speed transmission is fairly new but so far not a lot of problems as I have heard.
