What Jeep to bet my money on

The lease on my Wrangler is up in September. I'm definitely going to buy it, there's really no choice. I can buy it for $17K and it'll probably be worth at least $25K. I've been crunching some rough numbers and with my equity as a down payment, and the fact I can get one for cost (my boss is a Jeep dealer), I can buy a new one for $40 or $50 a month more than the payment would be buying the existing one. Jeep has some really good rates on a 72 month purchase--though I'd probably try to pay it off sooner.
My plan is to pay off whatever Jeep and then keep it as a second/play car for as long as it will run, which with Jeeps should be a very long time. The rationale for buying new is that the new engine has 80 more horse power, and because it has a five speed transmission, gets 2-3 better mpg. In addition I want to option it up more with leather, Sirius radio, GPS, and get a lighter color. I'll probably get the Sahara.
On the other hand my '11 is the last of the old engine/trans. It's completely tried and true, been around forever, is silly simple/cheap to repair/replace. The new ones are much more complicated, and while they've been good, it's unknown how they'll be in the long run. So the question is should I go with the latest/greatest or stick with tried and true?
