that is true - what you see is almost always the tip of the iceberg. I don't have much experience with the ng900, but our c900's are pretty solid still, and the 9-5 is clean everywhere that matters. Very comparable to similar aged Volvo, Audi, and VW. I see many 3 year old mazdas here in worse shape! From the sounds of it, Mazda uses very thin paint and less galvinization than the Germans, so any paint damage proceeds rapidly to perforation. Heavily galvinized panels are hard to paint - so the biggest issue with volvos and audis I see is peeling paint (but not rusting due to galvinization. Newer Saabs are like that also, but don't seem to peel as easily.
So many factors involved! I wish they did not salt the roads here!!!
