Hey all...
I spent the last 4.5 years restoring/enhancing my '88 SPG. Many of you know the car (loud as heck, black w/ 2 red stripes over one corner of the hood). Anyway, as you may have seen in an earlier post, I recently discovered that there is significant rust in the frame rail and I'm not going to get it fixed. The car will be sold in its entirety for parts (here on Saabnet) as I have decided not to get another classic 900. In fact, I'm sad to say that I decided not to get another Saab right now. We still have our 9'5 Aero, so my wife and I will remain a part of the Saab family.
All that being said, I bought a car this weekend...
An Acura CL Type S.
It's not nearly as utilitarian as the SPG. How will we get stuff from Home Depot back to our house???? ;)
The CL is a very nice car. Some data on it:
Silver, black interior;
260HP;
5 Speed sequential sport shift manumatic;
DVD Navigation system;
Bose sound system w/ in dash 6 cd changer;
Automatic climate control;
17" rims;
Type S sport suspension and exhaust;
Moonroof;
Memory seats (actually this feature is pretty slick... the remotes are keyed to the memory seats and mirrors, so when I use my remote to unlock the doors, it'll put the seat & mirrors to my memory position and the same is true with my wife's remote).
Anyway, it's a nice car, but I'll miss the SPG!
I spend a lot of time on car related BB's and you folks are a special and rare breed. My wife and I have had 5 Saabs and I can honestly say that we would not have gotten the last 4 but for you all. Your collective, friendliness, knowledge and willingness to help have facilitated a fantastic ownership experience. Quite frankly, Saab owes Saabnet a debt of gratitude! Several of the other boards that I spend time on are pretty disappointing in some ways... Foul language, so much slang that it's often time to understand the point of the post, hostility, bravado, irrational focus on quarter mile speed, and lots of bragging and even more flaming. I rarely see any of that here.
Anyway, I hope to keep in touch with my Saabnet friends.
Thanks for everything. You guys are great!
