Any brake wizards? Posted by CBS [Email] (#969) [Profile/Gallery] (more from CBS) on Mon, 13 Jul 2015 12:27:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The vehicle is a '85 VW Vanagon camper. Ever since I bought it last Summer the brakes are very weak. If I stomp on them, it will seem like the pedal bottoms out and the vehicle will come to a stop, but I cannot get it to actually squeal the tires when stomped on. In other words, I think I'm getting about 70% braking capacity...kind of dangerous especially in that beast.
I replaced the brake master cylinder (bench bled it) and bled all 6 zirks (why there are six -- two on each of the fronts -- I don't have a clue) using a MityVac (reverse bleeding into a jar). THe fluid was pretty darn dirty.
What else can I do? If the booster was bad, would this prevent me from getting a squealing stop if I wanted it?
