I bought Jak’s 3 inch DP for my 2002 viggen. It looked awesome when I pulled it out of the box. I had the muffler shop check all the welds and they said all of them were great. I went with a 3 inch system dropping the mid pipe, up and over axle and dropping down to a 2.5” magnaflow muffler that is 14” long. I did this because I wanted to retain the stock muffler tip. They installed a big ass flex pipe as well stating that it’s best to have this so welds do not crack.
1). Fit: It fit perfect, O2 sensors and all.
1). Sound: It’s not to loud at all. At idle it has a nice rumble. I can hear the turbo at times as well. When letting off the gas at 2500 rpm’s it has no popping just a little burble. There is no drone whatsoever at any speed. I have to say that the car sounds great-not rice sounding at all. Finally I have a car that sounds like I think it should sound like. The stock exhaust was to damn quiet for a semi “sports car”. I remember driving my friends boxster around and thinking the same thing. What was Porsche thinking?
2). Problems: No CEL’s at all. The shop did not drive the car after the install. I started car cold. Idled fine except when I came to any stop sign the car would drop in rpm’s like a hose was pilled off (BOV). I pulled over thinking that they must of disconnecting something. Nope-everything was fine. Took off again, car still not warm, same thing. I said what the hell and got on it. Car warmed up, and no more idle problem. I guess the ecu had to adapt. Took it home and had to park it. So I have to say that there were not any problems at all.
3). Performance: Now remember, I'm talking about jak’s DP and a whole new exhaust system, not just Jak’s DP mated up to stock exhaust. I disconnected battery for 1\2 hour and took it for a few adaptive runs. I have to say in all honesty that the car has gained at least 10-15hp, but toward the 15 hp range. This is not a “butt dyno” feeling. The car revs better, has less lag, and is much more spirited. My turbo gauge always hit right between the yellow and red mark with times entering the red. Now it easily goes into the red before the ecu drops it back down. I know a lot of people have done this mod. But if you have not, I highly recommend it. JAK’S DP IS AWESOME!
I will now add the SMBC and see how that does.
