OK, so you want to undo Saab's meager progress during those years and use the older parts, right? You want the older wheel selection and terrible brakes and no rear parking brake? I've upgraded a couple older cars by using the newer components, but not this direction. I hope it's for racing and you have something super cool planned, otherwise I don't see the point!
REAR
Swap entire rear axle. You can do it at the chassis or directly at the axle. If may have to mess with brake lines because a '91 had ABS (only one line going to rear) and the '87 was non-abs (two lines going to rear).
FRONT
Swap the entire spindle assemblies. The front components fit but you have to use everything between the ball joints--> spindle, wheel bearings, brake rotor & caliper, hub, outer CV joint. I *think* that you can leave the '91 axles in the car, but I don't remember exactly. Worst case is that you have to use the old axles from the '87.
BRAKES
A 4-piston Wilwood caliper will bolt right onto a pre-88 spindle and makes for a nice upgrade. But you are left without a parking brake. At the rear, you have nothing special with the older stuff, and no known upgrades. And no parking brake. Are you ripping out the ABS? That would simplify your project a lot.
