I have a cat bypass section that I use on race days on my 1995 9000 AERO. The biggest advantage is not the extra power but you can run a mix of leaded race gas and premium unleaded ( whatever is left in your tank) at about 40 to 50% The perfoormance difference is beyond just more power, Your car never feels this good at any boost level. With my Abbott ECU the Engine parameters stay fully optomized at 18 to 20 psi boost and it is so much better than just running more boost, as the engine has to compensate to try to protect itself under high boost with normal gas.
The oxygen sensor can tolerate moderate levels of lead in intermittant applications. I have run perhaps over 50 gallions through mine inthe last 3 years.
Anyone without a cat that has not tried race gas should buy about 3 gallions and dump it in when your near empty to give it a try. You can buy the fuel at the shops that tend to the drag race crowd.
