Thanks for the response. For starters, the old head must go because I have to pull it because of a sheared exhaust manifold bolt stud. The already purchased replacement 2.1 NA head is a welcome upgrade. I'm also wanting to increase, not lower, CR to help bottom end performance, that's why I'm opting to use the NA intake cam. So, because of the widened runners, why not decrease the volume pre-runners? That's what I'm going after with the "filler" idea. If you look at the inside of that manifold, there's a big volume of air in there, and reducing at least the bottom floor, maybe 1/5th of the total space, my thinking it has to help direct the air volume more toward the runners rather than bluster around a while before it heads into the runners. For good reason, so much talk on here is spent dealing with air flow restrictions, and that point in the flow chain appears inefficient. Is it? Anyone?
