Well I guess the assumption is that the stock ECU can control ANY size turbo just by opening the wastegate to bleed off the pressure. I guess this is a Jak question. But my guess is the problem if you go to a larger turbo or something like a ball bearing turbo with the stock ECU, is that you could have boost spikes where the boost controller can't dump pressure fast enough. I imagine there is a rate of boost function in the ecu that is dependent on the design of a given turbo. I know this is true on a regular 900 APC box where the rate can be modified, but you don't want to over do it otherwise you will overshoot your target boost and the APC will not be able to control pressure fast enough. Then you will lean out. This is a good question and I'd like to hear the real answer. What I think could happen is if don't do any ecu changes is that you will be hitting the fuel cutoff alot more often and it becomes a drivablility problem.
