Hi Rob, milling a cylinder head usually isn't a good way to gain compression however in the case of an early 16 valve Saab you could cut your head to '94 up spec's (-.036") and then use late cams which would correct the retarded timing from the thinner head. This combination would require using your early sprockets, it's the drive notch in the late cams that makes up for the retarded timing. Your compression ratio would come out to 11.3 to 1. Your valve to piston clearance would be ok! Take care, Dave
