HI-Po Headgasket Options Posted by Shaun [Email] (#683) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Shaun) on Mon, 3 Apr 2006 15:31:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
1985 Saab 900T. Without going into all the modifications, suffice to say its heavily modified. Relevant mods are: forged pistons, liquid I/C, copper head gasket with o-ringed block, ARP head bolts.
Problem: getting oil into cooling system. Obviously a leak between head and block. Suspect copper head gasket somewhere along the way is letting this happen.
Copper headgasket put on, whether wisely or not, was used to prevent blowing a stock head gasket.
Question: Is there a non-copper head gasket out there more durable than stock, but not copper? I'm already resolved to having head pulled to fix the problem, however, would like to get it down right....with the relative security of not having it let go during an 18-20 psi pull.
Right now my options are to purchase another copper headgasket (this one has been on and off the motor 3 times and maybe that has something to do with current events) or stick a stock one back on.
