My 93 aero has never quite run right for the year that i have had it. I bought it and it had an overboosting problkem that we thought was just an adaptation thing and resetting the wastegate. This turned out to be not quite the case as to make it not overboost i had to turn the wastegate back to the point that the turbo would not spool untill 3500 rpm. I installed a set of headers and a 3" exhaust last weekend and have been fooling around with the wastegate setting again. I called Jak and ordered an ecu for my c900 and asked him where to set the wstegate for a stock car, he said preload it 3 turns or so. After the headers were installed i did this and the turbo spooled, for the most part, instantly. This was goood but its now overboosting again. I then switched out the wastgate actuator with a higher rated one i had from group 9. THis helped a little but it still overboosts. Im not sure what else to look for or check besides the ecu itself. All the sensors except for the map sensor are new, the di casette is new as well as the sparkplugs, the bpc valve is new and its not the wastegate actuator(unless the stock ecu does not have the capability if adapting to the higher rate actuator.)
I have the actuator turned back to the point that it does not overboost, but its being held open about 4.5 turns, so it now once again does not spool till 4k rpm. WHen i had the actuator turned to the point it should be, it would kick a few times when i adapted it with the parking brake, then figure itself out and not kick. But then i tried another run immediatly after and it would kick again. Its as if the ecu is not remembering what it is learning. Ive searched the site and found nothing that could help me, so im trying again with posting to see if anyone might have a clue or even a guess.
