...The shifter shaft strikes up against the bearing, limiting its throw. I also installed it and then ripped it out. The fix would be to machine an indent into the area that contacts the pivot joint. Problem is, this would then allow the pivot joint to slip upwards and the problem will recur. The items are steel and aluminum alloy, so welding is not possible. Epoxy will not work as it cracks with time and everything will slip.
It seems the unit needs a different pivot joint that does not strike up against the shifter shaft. Dissassembling this item however is difficult, as it seems to be press fit in addition to having retaining springs.
My theory. Saab Savior farmed out their work. They stopped using a certain vendor. He sold the stuff on Ebay. It seems that vendor's items were using the problematic bearing. That is probably why Saab Savior stopped using them, and probably why the vendor tried to sell the stuff on Ebay.
