I was hoping one of the bigger performance guys here would comment. The post caught my eye. Some guys on the Volvo site are trying this method, but I wanted to see what people here like JAK and GM and the rally racing guys, etc... would think. I included the link to last week's post below.
In short, this guy cuts a grove in the head pointing to the spark plug. The groove is cut in any quench areas on the head. States it works best at 10:1 compression heads with non-dished pistons. Saab turbos are dished and less than 10:1, but still, some guys on bad bricks report gains. Some things make sense, but there are no dyno studies and no compelling comparisons between 10:1 compression heads with and without grooves.
Anyone care to comment here? Is this real, or just a variation of the Tornado air intake system?
