what's the mileage on the car? Posted by Saabu [Email] (#1133) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabu) on Sun, 30 Jul 2006 07:02:43 In Reply to: engine rebuilding/machining, dannyboy, Sat, 29 Jul 2006 17:16:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
if 250k miles or more the rings might be getting worn anyway. SD has a great rings and bearings rebuild kit with chrome rings and vandervell bearings. Your block will probably show next to no wear so ring and bearing replacement plus block clean-up and cylinder deglaze will be all that's needed.
what are you planning on doing to the engine? i've rebuilt an 86 SPG block using 83 900T pistons to slightly lower the CR. car hasnt run yet but it will be open to lots of mod potentials like higher boost, larger intercooler but not 2.1 head as that will reduce CR even more.
On fueling, according to the reading i've done on Saabnet these 85-87's (i drive an 87 SPG as well) do best with 24# injectors and a rising rate fuel pressure regulator. You cant fiddle with the AMM (ie adding/changing resistors) as its LH 2.2.
if you are planning to go whole hog best to get a car with LH2.4 (think that's 89 and up).
