I would base fuel performance criteria more on vacuum manifold pressure -- the more neg pressure you can keep in the manifold the better the potential for economy -- now, that is based also on many other factors -- timing, compression ratio, fuel programming, etc etc etc -- BUT if you are tuned and trying for fuel economy, then keeping a neg pressure in the manifold is an economy friendly place to be.
I had a fuel run in my 2.0T Brad enhanced head....etc etc....got 36MPG at 62MPH. Trying for another record tomorrow. Goal is 40MPG at highway speed. Final drive is .78 on this car.
At this point in the fossil fuel game, I think we should have a "Special Performance Board" to further discussion on how to save fuel rather than burn ourselves out!
