The trick is to rewire it with a distributor mounted hall sensor, either from an older non turbo or use one from a turbo w/vacuum dist.
A mechanic friend of mine has always done this when he rebuilt older saabs, in order to avoid having to change a crank mounted unit in case of a failure...I want to adapt this idea to bump timing.
