Typically when a plug is on its way out, it will first foul under boost, and then as it gets worse begin to fail under normal driving.
Replace the plugs, sounds like typical boost fouling, platinum plugs are only $2 at the store.
Bosch 4227 for a b202Turbo. For some reason the books in the parts stores do not show it on later than 89 900T's but specs on motors never changes(900T 86-93Turbo), and crossing bosch 4227 to other plugs will give you a wider variety of plugs to use.
Timing is checked with a timing light, with vac hose to the distributer disconnected and plugged the stock timing on t16 should be 16deg btdc a degree or two in either direction should be fine, BUT, try to get it right on 16.....some cars run better either side of 16, I think I set my 900T at 18, but it was allot of trial and error.
TYPICALLY slightly off timing WILL NOT cause misfire.
Also check the distributer diaphram to make sure it is still working, you can check it by sucking on the end of the hose that goes to the dist. if it holds your suction it should be working.
