Hello everyone.
Group9performance.com used to be jointly run by Dave Kennedy out on the west coast, and a fellow named James on the east coast.
back in these days, they even listed different contact numbers on their websites as group9east and group9west.
It used to be that if you couldn't get a hold of one guy, you could get the other one.
Dave was, and still is, the technical know how guy, the fabricator, and the "genious" behind the "maddness" ;)
James was the business man, the money guy... i think... ;)
I believe that the "end" of the ownership came from james selling the company to a guy named "PETE"... and dave is still fabricating parts out at LESCO automotive industries in california, but he's no longer affiliated with the website either.
Anyways...
Just recently I was trying to get a hold of dave, so i called the number on the group9 website.
I got a voicemail, and i thought it was james...
James and i used to do a lot of business together, I've bought many, many things from them in the past when it was under the joint ownership, and i never had any problems.
So, i left a message to james, asking how he's been, how business is, and that i'm interested in buying some new parts, and listed them all off.
I received a phone call the very next day, (this was 2 days ago from today), from the current new owner, Pete.
He explained how the change of ownership happened, and he explained some of the parts availability changes that were going to happen now that he's taking over... deciding not to stock several items, etc...
although i can't recall much about the specifics, I was more interested in getting to know him. We talked for about 30-40 minutes.
I was making suggestions to him about some things that he should start looking into stocking, such as powerflex bushings, which can be elusive to find, and 3" exhaust systems for older cars, and just giving him some direction on some "dead zones" in the market for saab performance parts...
...like how to "tap" in on things that only one other person or company makes...you know?
he was very receptive to my input, and he wanted me to write it all down and e-mail it to him, although i haven't done that yet.
He sounded pretty young... and he sounded pretty "rushed" like he was in a hurry, perhaps he only called me because he thought i was going to buy something... i don't know...
BUT...
for everyone who is trying to reach him...
that voicemail is actually checked by a person, and his name is pete and he lives in New Jersey.
He MAY be in a little over his head at the moment, which would explain some of the delays...
I'm in new york, and after hearing about the problems you all seem to be having, I may offer him some help if he needs a second pair of hands to help do some busy work.
I love answering the phone and talking to people about saab parts, and if you pay me, i'll do it all day long! ;)
So, again, Pete's the name... call him and tell him you'd like to hear the new voice behind group9! Show him some support!
