timing stuff Posted by jak [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: 2.0T Timing Curves (jak, i'm lookin at you), Simon S, Sat, 24 Mar 2007 15:42:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
most trionic cars at 20PSI say at 2500-3000RPM where peak boost may be made timing will go to 0 or ATDC just slightly & then taper upward as RPMs increase to 8-12*BTDC
if I were you I would defeat the retard in the distributor & only use that for adviace then use the BTM to advance the timing till boost becomes irratic (APC kicks boost back) then just back it off till boost is nice & stable.
I use the APC as my ears when setting timing
the problem with teh diaphrams is that they are verry static, at 5-7PSI they just flop over to full retard mabey 10*BTDC which is too advanced for peak boost & if you set it to say 5*BTDC under boost it would fall on its face above 3500RPM
this is one of the biggest obsticles to spreading the power curve out on a C900
Brad with Water Injection is able to cool combustion when the timing is too far advanced so there is power higher in the RPMs
timing is partly why a NG900 with a T25 will make 250WHP on a stock turbo & a C900 makes about 200-210WHP with the stock turbo I know the drivetrain losses are more in a C900 but the timing does have allot to do with it
on trionic cars you can spread the power out further without killing engines because the timing controll is way more dynamic
I hope that helps somewhat
I hope your weekend was awesome :-) mine was
take care
