1st. I like the evo 5.
2nd. 4mm spacers are 100%NO (NOT SAFE), if you want to use spacers you must use at least a 10mm that is SAAB specific. Meaning that it fits snug over the hub and it has a lip of the hub size for the wheel to be centered on.
Now, with 35mm you wont rub with Intrax, B&G but you might rub if you are using abbott racing , jamex or making your own ( Cutting springs)(However if you rub. it is just the spg fender flares if you have them. And in that case just remove the fender clips and glue the flares on with some strong silicone. somthing like what is used for windsheilds) Basically the rubbing happens from the tire rubbing the clips so removing the clips cures the issue. Also if you are going that low get the stiffist shocks you can. Bilstien HD should do the job.

Now if you like the evo 8 then email me i have a set of 5 spokes deepdish that are 40mm and will do exactly what you are looking for. also i have the same wheels in 18x7 on my spg . so i can email you a pic to see how it looks.

as far as tire size you will need 215 40 17.
