I just put a oil pressure gage in too and I thought my readings were low too, 60psi when started in the morning, dropped to 30psi by operating temp and would drop to 18-20psi at idle after beating on it... The oil is loosing viscosity under heat and this was shown by a college kid who tested a bunch of oil in a saab 9-3 and ng900. His findings were that not many of the 10w30 oils will maintain good oil pressure in the saabs that he tested. Only Castrol syntech and redline and maybe royal purple held up, many others failed to maintain good oil pressure. Mobile 1 has had a lot of talk about being too thin and is suspected of damaging some motors and some tuning companies specifically say don't use it...!
His test did show most 10w40 oils did maintain good oil pressure and that is what I plan to do now that break-in is complete in the new 2.3 motor. Its back to royal purple 10w40 or Rotella 15w40 T for me...
I am showing oil pressure readings similar to yours after beating on my car with regular Castrol 10w30, not the syntech... I plan to switch back to synthetic royal purple 10w40 and see how it holds up... Good Luck,
John
