could be caused by a number of things. i've had some similar issues i've been trying to sort through.
blow by is the usual culprit. rings cannot seal 100% of the oil and always will let a little oil by from what some good sources say. however, opinions differ about whether an oil catch can is a good thing to do even if no issues are experineced.
in my case, it seems to be a ring issue, but my rings are new and they may just need a little time to precisley wear into the cylinder bore, which is the stock bore and piston, 88 spg bottom end.
you'll naturally burn a little cleaner since no (minimal) oil vapors will be in the intake and thus have some negative effect on the explosion of gas upon spark.
i am beginning to think i may eventually go for a catch can also just to control the stuff in the intake better. i've got a design in mind that would almost make it invisible and not in the way.
