and test every damn thing that bently has a procedure for (as well as all the obvious stuff), swap a known good ecu, new o2, etc.... don't give up!
so, you swap loom, aic, etc,,,, and still have some issues, where do you go from there??? troubleshooting is enough of a pain as it is, without the ' well, i changed it to a...' senario. plus, with as few spg's around as there are, why devalue one by changing out stuff that doesn't need to be changed. there is probably one thing wrong, so you just need to find it. seeing that a large number of the components of the lh system can be checked using a multimeter, i would be busy checking everything i could. i had a 89 cvt that ran rich as hell for nearly a year, and after a full day of diagnosis, i realized that it was the ecu (89-no surprises there). now, i had a similar model that i could swap bits across readily, and you may not be in that situation.
BUT-i wouldn't buy a 87 spg that had a 2.4 wiring loom in! my 2c...
