Cost estimates and advice on head work

I'm just putting out the feelers on how much it may cost me to have some mild head work done while I'm going through my 85 SPG. Right now it's got some seriously bad blowbye but is still making boost in the low 20's no problem. However, I'm going through tons of oil and would like to have the car fixed up a bit before winter (it is actually my winter beater).
But, before the seasons change I was hoping to pull the head off to do a head gasket, plus replace the turbo while it's apart, and figured why not maybe have the head cleaned up a bit. I remember having a new HG and remachined head put into my 85 S years ago (due to a totally blown gasket and running on 2 cylenders for a few hundred miles) and the car was unreal afterwards, ran as I imagine it would have brand new. But back then I had a mechanic do all the work, so I don't know how to guage what just the head work would cost, plus this is a 16 valve and that was an 8.
So, long post aside, how much generally does it cost to bring a head to an egnine builder and have it remachined? Maybe a simple gasket match or port and polish while it's there, but just looking for some cost estimates and advice.
I should also add that I'm pretty sure it's not the orignal 85 head as the motor in it appears to be more like an 88ish, however I have not checked the numbers on the head to see.
Thanks, and sorry for the drawn out post.
