Ah! Got it... the Walbro suggestion is a solid one. One thing you will run into is that the "topography" at the bottom of the tank is different between a CIS car and an LH car... there is a little "boat" at the bottom of the CIS tank, and no such thing on an LH tank. What that means - or has meant to me ob my LH/16vT 1980 - is that my "LH pump" can't quite get to the bottom of the tank, so "R" on the gauge means, "REALLY, get gas NOW."
So, bottom line: You can put an LH pump in the tank and you'll be fine.
