When I put larger tires on my Jeeps I never know what pressure to use so I do this:
1) "guess" at a reasonable PSI, I usually start at factory recommended
2) use chalk and draw a line across the width of the tire (perpendicular to direction of travel) & drive a very short distance (few hundred feet)
3) If chalk dissapears:
- in middle of tire, but is still at edges: pressure too high
- at edges of tire, but is still in center: pressure to low
- gone everywhere: just right!
I don't know why this wouldn't work for any tire, but others may have knowledge I don't.
