You have a family to support.

And the nice guy with the Viggen is getting waaaaay too good of a deal, at your expense. If you are like most small business owners, you can't afford to do this for many customers, or you'll put yourself & your business at risk of insolvency.

When any of us start modifying our cars, the "pay to play" rule kicks in. So, it is amazingly generous of you to donate your time to building him a motor, but you really should be getting compensated for your labor.

Perhaps if this happens again in the future, you could charge the customer your direct labor costs (i.e. the wage that you wish to earn) without an overhead markup, instead of your regular billing rate. That would still be very generous, in my opinion.

I'm pretty certain I signed a waiver when Automotion & SQR tuned my car roughly a year ago (they are located only a short distance from my home). If the motor had gone "pop", Bo & Paul would have been sympathetic but they would not likely have done such extensive repair work without compensation. And I would have understood.

Hopefully the guy who owes you for the turbo sends you a check for the hardware that he is apparently using . . . and maybe the Viggen owner will read this thread & step up with some compensation for your time.

Personally, I think I'll take a look at your website & see what I can purchase for my car . . . & I would urge anyone else who wants to support Jak to do the same.

Happy holidays, everybody . . .

- Mark
