What do you base this on? As far as I can tell all the expensive higher end intercooler upgrades use the extruded type cores, whereas the low end intercoolers all use bar & plate cores and are substantially cheaper!!
A friend of mine has a shop that manufactures and renews coolers of all sorts (water, oil, air etc) for applications from gokarts and motorcycles all the way up to huge industrial machines. He's pretty adamant about the bar and plate design not being better. Just a cheaper alternative...
If you think about it, heat is conducted better through extruded fins than through fins soldered on and flow characteristics are just a question of how big the core is, how big the canals are and how many fins there are per canal...
