85 900 turbo with a ton of mods
I have plugs (all 4) that look black as night, which leads me to think I'm running rich. But when I try to start the car she won't stay running and I have to feather the pedal to keep her going. While I'm doing this I can see puffs of smoke coming out of the dipstick.
The long story is I blew the head a couple yrs ago. I replaced it with a used one but had it totally done over. Ported, port matched, 2.1 cam and intake and the works to the rest. Since then I also went with the 9k ic and new pipes. I also went with a new turbo and 3 inch exhaust from jak. I also got 30 FMS injectors and a rough burned chip from Jak too. I had the car running a coupe weeks ago. I was able to dive it around the block and set the timing. At the time I wasn't able to get a couple psi of boost. I hadn't gotten to the base boost setting. I wasn't really trying to get on it anyway. This was just to see it she'd run. Well since then I broke off the drain spout on the rad. So I had to pull it back out and fix it, which was not a problem but since then the eng has really ran like crap. My gut tell me I some how cracked the head again.
I'm not sure what happened??? I need help but I’m not sure where to start. I think I need to pull the head but I really don’t want to. Is there a way to do a compression test with out pulling the head or eng?????
Thanks
tim
