Colby,
You might want to look at some compressor maps which will show the compressor wheels abiltiy to deliver cool/efficient charge at designated engine BHP (air flow). The "Super 60" is the largest of the T3 family but is at the borderline or being outside of it's maximum efficiency at 250 BHP assuming a pressure ratio of 2.0+ (20-24 psi charging pressures). The super 60 wheel will also be outside maximum compressor wheel efficiency at 260 BHP or more and begin to bring higher charging temperatures. Higher charging temperatures are less dense and create a loss in overall engine BHP.
The T4 family of compressor wheels is more efficient when targeting 250 BHP or more and the 54 or 57 trim would provide better overall efficiency (76% to 78%) but also retains this efficiency up to 300+ BHP if deciding to increase engine BHP in the future.
Lag will always be a factor any time you employ a larger compressor wheel but keeping things realistic for your BHP goals will insure a good ratio of spool to efficiency.
Best of luck,
GaryK at SWEDISH DYNAMICS,INC.
