I have and will continue to cut the valves and not wory about the coating. Sure it would be nice to have the stellite coating but the only way to achive this is to buy new valves which are very expensive. To have this coating is a plus not not absolutely necessary after all they are sodium filled and I think this is enough by itself to combat the high heat of our turbo engines. I have had very good success cutting the valves and would reccomend that over lapping in a worn recessed valve that you think still has the coating left.
