The quality of new generation Volvos is not near earlier cars... apart from nicer interiors... all 850's have a $1000 A/C problem (make sure it has been fixed befre you buy...) and a host of annoying little problems... we own a 1998 S70, which has had more silly problems (door locks not working, windows getting stuck up or down, radio, etc. etc.,)in 45,000 miles than my old 940 turbo needed in the time I owned it (from 80,00,-150,000 miles) (nothing went wrong with the 940). The 5-cylinder sounds great, and the handling is good on Turbos and Rs, if you want an automatic, I don't think anybody beats Volvos, but if you want real driving fun, keep your 9000. I know I will. This may be just my experience, but the Volvo dealer is a first class A-hole, to boot!
