I got a free 1999 9-5 that had started to sludge up, and the #4 piston had been knocking in the bore. The first 3 bores were perfect. #4 was only out .001". the #4 piston was worn .020". I replaced the #4 piston with a good used one from another scrap engine. I did hone the #4 bore and put new rings in the replacement piston. I put the other 3 pistons back in with their original rings as they showed no wear. My engine also showed a lot of wear in the middle main bearing. I replaced all the main bearings, the thrust bearings and the rod bearings.
All the pistons in my car were marked A. I replaced #4 piston with another "A" piston.
I have a couple more good "A" pistons if you need one.
Car runs awesome now. Cost about $500 in parts and took about 20 hours. Nothing in my car needed machining.
