Hello,

I have a old 9000T with a 2.3 head, red injectors full 2 3/4? RRFR Vacuum retard etc. I have my Turbo custom built. I was running the car to lean and under boost wasted my Turbo. My compression is good, I had the Turbo removed and the exhaust impeller had a full meltdown and was destroyed. I had a higher pressure wasted gate actuator installed. The car ran FANTASTIC !! I need to have this turbo rebuilt. I found a sweet used Turbo with 75K miles for $100. I removed and installed the high pressure actuator.
I noticed it had probably 3/8 of and inch more threads showing. I had the Turbo installed and the car runs pretty good the Turbo comes on around 3000 RPM. The old HP Turbo with cut veins came on at 2700 RMP. Then new Turbo wont hold red on the meter as long. What is the proper way to adjust the HP waste-gate actuator? It may be right ? The threads on the stock waste-gate actuator were turned in 3/8 or about 5-7 turns more.

Questions:

1) If out of adjustment what will I feel? delay? less boost? etc.

2) With a HP waste-gate actuator and stock turbo how do I adjust it? I have a vacuum gage. I'm not sure if I need special Saab tools? How do I set base boost etc?

3) Is the process easy?

Thanks

Dave
