I can see that side of the coin. I have found most are thanking there lucky stars that Saab tunes can be had at a resonable price.
The easy tune button you speak of is just one option in the tuning sw and that does not mean that other tuners cannot develop tunes by getting out there wide-band, tech2 and dyno.
I do agree there is a noticable difference between an easy tune and a well developed tune.
I would also venture to say that after looking at many files, there are way too many identical maps for all of the tuners to have done their own development in all the areas. Most of the differnces come from just a few maps, boost, fuel, timing, etc.
I guess its how you look at. Companies that charge 550-650 for a t5 tune are not happy about freeware out to tune your own car. People that would like to buy an affordable tune for thier car are very happy.
My 2 cents,
John
