I actually read through the WIS and found out both 1st and 5th need to be engaged to avoid certain parts separating and falling out. The problem is the shift mechanism is jammed in neutral from the roll pin that sheared off the shift fork I was wanting to fix. To avoid losing any parts, or doing anything that would result in more repair expenses, I'm just going to bring it to a local transmission shop to have it repaired properly.
Thanks for the information though, that solidifies my decision.
