In a very very small nutshell (more like a sunflower seed nutshell) the wider your track width the greater the (cornering) grip capacity you will have at that axle.
Increasing the rear track width will increase cornering capacity at the rear - which will translate as less oversteer - which is (for the sake of argument) the same as more understeer. Which I don't think you want.
There are much more complex things going on in the suspension design relating to track width than that, but that's the primary effect.
Since you can't change the track width significantly in a bodied sedan (because of the fenders and clearance) there is essentially no benefit, unless you go to the extreme and have 0 or even positive offset wheels, and go the low rider look with the wheels pushed way out from the car.
In a really stiff road racing chassis with a sensitive driver and stiffer suspension and real tyres, yes, 40mm will probably make a measurable difference.
In your 9000 (not a very stiff body) with street suspension (very soft by comparison) with street tyres, you will not be able to tell a difference, and you may run into tire rubbing issues on the passenger side rear outer edge of the tyre hitting the fender lip.
Best,
Drew
