SPG engine rebuild

When I changed heads, I boo boo'd and ended up bending some valves and denting the tops of 2 pistons. the car ran okay after putting the old head back on, but it's time to fix it properly (there are leaks too).
When I had the head off the cylinder bores looked great.
It's an 86 with a 11/85 build date 220k total miles.
I need to dig up another 2.1 or 2.3 head.
I believe the rods are not as strong with the early build, but I'm not going big boost. Probably not an issue unless swapping them allows me a better piston option.
Any suggestions as to what I should be swapping things out with?
