True, heard the same, read the same. To add alittle, I believe it depends on where you want your HP and Torque to be made in the powerband. Just like choosing cams and the size of the turbo. Since our classic 900's don't have all the latest computer VVT, etc. the cams you select, the head you opt for, the turbo you choose all will make the car's powerband move up the rpm gauge. Do you want High rpm HP numbers for autobhan racing, or more low end torque for around town, twisty roads and passing power? The stock engine as is will be best for drivability and around town. Porting your stock head alone will give something like 10 HP in upper rpm, putting the T-5 head unported, or T-7 head will create even more upper rpm HP, but until we get our little 2 litre engines spinning fast enough, which does take along time (relatively speaking) without computerized VVT and adjustable this, that and the other to make the car accelerate faster, you may very well cause MORE lag in acceleration and turbo spool-up. So think, where will you be driving your car? I'd personally get flow bench tested ported stock head... most of the benefits with little or no cause of additional lag. Like previous poster said, get porting done right with flow testing, or you could cause it to provide less performance, i've seen simple hack jobs, where it's doubtful any good was done. You need to figure out if you want a high rpm "screamer", which can be a pita around town or streetlight to streetlight, or a more torque driven accelerater lower in rpm range. Every 500 rpm's it takes to get the car moving does count! As you come to decision points about cams, turbos, head, etc, start a new post and keep us up to date. That's how I suggested ScanWest autosports to you weeks ago!
