Yupper....run the best fuel you can. Cooling the inlet charge by 45 degrees will allow about 3 psi boost increase. So, the water injection is a great way to do that without taking the risk of using gas from the race pump. We have 100, 110, and 112 at the track.
I should have mentioned that the 116 octane equivalent using the water injection is when you mix alcohol in it as well. We use windscreen fluid which has a low concentration, and then a small fuel cell for the 50/50 mix of water and methanol. Your improvement in octane would be lower than the estimated 116 if you use just water or windscreen fluid.
I ran a well tuned 91 C900, and not many mods this weekend at a fun track day, and a 302 Ford in a Factory Five Cobra could not pull away. But, I was running the 110 octane fuel, so it pulled well until the IC heat soaked :-( No water injection on this car, so it pulled strong until it started to heat up the IC.
