While I didn't do it myself, I did find someone locally with very good credentials and lots of satisfied customers to do a tune for me. Very inexpensive and even on my stock 9-5 Aero it made a huge difference. Performance is much better and after 1 tank MPG's are even greatly improved.
There was a bit of debate on the 9-5 board, but to make a long story short...
I bought the car in November, running on 3 cylinders. Had it fixed right away. When we pulled the maps there was a lot of weird stuff in there, due to the adaptation of the ECU. Whether it was just different driving styles from previous owners, or the burnt valves on 1 cylinder, the computer was asking for alot of strange things. Wiping the ECU clean and doing a tune custom tailored to my driving style and my wants/needs from the car was worth every penny.
If you are anywhere in New England this guy would be more than happy to tune your 9-5, or anyone else's for that matter. He (and probably a few other tuners) will also be at Carlisle doing tunes.
