MBC have a bad rep on this board but the fact in they work just fine. Obviously, if you go turning the boost up way too high, your gonna have problems but that can happen with a stock tune as well. There's nothing wrong with using a mbc thats set to the same boost level as your tune.
Your car will still have overboost protection unless your tuner has set it too high or removed it completely. What your car won't do is adjust boost levels incase of knock BUT it can still adjust timing so there's still a lot of protection there.
SO, what is the advantage to running a mbc? First, they are cheap. You can make one out of hardware store parts for like $10. Next, the stock valve is a bleed type valve which means its keeping the wastegate partially open even before the turbo spools. In other words more turbo lag with stock type valve. Last, and most important imo, is reliability. So many time stock valves will work fine then you goto mash it to get onto the freeway and bam you get 10 psi instead of the 15 you expected or overboost and faceplant.
Bottom line, if you want maxium protection, leave it stock. But there are pleanty of use who have been running them for years with no problems even with tuned cars.
