this isn't really an issue of maintenance when it comes to swapping cams, it's an issue of parts compatibility. Maybe you can get away with it on Saabs, and that's what I'm asking, but I'm just saying that this is typically suicide on flat tappet cams that I'm used to. If I replaced the cam in my Chevy pickup and didn't replace the lifters, there's a really good chance I'd trash both, and maybe my engine.
