So after installing my Stage 1 tuned ECU that I bought from eeuro (very happy with it so far) I went ahead and found a shop with an ISAT and had them do the ETS calibration. It really was worth it as before the calibration I was getting some pretty jerky throttle response especially after the power increase (but even before the tune went in it was kinda jerky) After the calibration it now has proper throttle response and the pedal feel is much more natural. Before I would have to really be careful to ease my foot into the pedal as to not buck the car but now I can apply the gas normally and the transition is much smoother. It makes the around town driving much easier and also makes the foot down to pass much more enjoyable.
One thing I'm still wondering about though is the idle. The car has always idled a bit high for my taste, like around 900-950 instead of 850. This didn't seem to change despite the calibration. I have some new silicone vac hose on the way to replace all of it although upon inspection the other day I could not find any faults.
New fuel filter going in soon, spark plugs (bcpr7es-11) went in with the tuned ecu. Air filter is drop in K&N that gets cleaned every other oil change (mobile 1 0W-40)
Any suggestions to check for? Other than the slightly high idle the car really drives great now. Maybe it will calm down after 100 miles?
Oh! I almost forgot, if the battery dies or is disconnected, will the calibration need to be performed again or does it store the info?
Thanks!
