I drive 90 miles a day (R/T) mostly on Highway 280 and use a Valentine One. I wouldn't use anything else !. The unit has many features that the others lack (ie Bogie Counter). The Bogie Counter tells you how many radar emitters there are and allows you to make a decision as to whether there false (ie automatic door openers near strip malls).
I used a Passport for a brief time but was totally irritated at the # of signals that it gave off. Disadvantage was it lacked the bogie counter so you couln't tell whether it was a real signal or just a door opener.
On another note don't get a false sense of security just because your cruising with a detector. Always be diligent in checking the front sides and rear view mirror for CHP and also look for traffic pattern anomalies. Not all officers use radar or they use it judiciously. Also instant on radar is real difficult to fight against.
